I really like this book i ave now. Its full of things that i wanted to know. I just got to the chapter on Slash who is my favourite guitarist, its kinda wierd how it timed out because i just bought his solo album which is now my favourite CD and in the same week i get to the chapter on him so i think thats kinda neet. When i read about these guitarists it makes me want to play more and more to get better. I just started learning a song off slashs new album and its comming together pretty good. Its called "by the sword" and it features Andrew Stalkdale from the band "Wolfmother". Its a really good song.

i havn't had another chance to pick up the book im reading but i am looking forward to reading it again. I never thought that would happen to me, i am not much of a reader. Actuallly the first book i finished on my own was the book on th Red Hot Chili Peppers which some people find a little bit sad but i just like to be outside instead of reading a book. i like to be active.
I started another book about the top one hundred guitarsts. this book is so much better than the last one, the stuff in it actually interests me. I know most of the guitarists in the book and they are in most of the bands i like so i already know half of the infromation in it. The book also has the top hundred solos in it so i decided i was goiong to try and leran how to play the first one which is "Eruption" by Van Halen and see if i can do it.

I finally finished the Metallica book i was reading, it was a pretty terrible book and i wouldn't recomend it to anyone unless they like reading about the therapy they had to go through. The book was pretty much jusst a waist of time and wasn't enjoyable to read unfortunatly. I wonder who coul actually read this whole book?

the second book... Metallica

I just started reading Metallica some kind of monster which is pretty much identical to the other book I read about the Chili Peppers so I'm not very interested in it at the moment. Its all about the therapy they had to go through when they were going to break up so its not very interesting since I already know the outcome of them staying together. This book is also a lot bigger than my last one so I don’t know if I am going to be able to finish it in time if I'm not very interested in it, but ill read a few more chapters and see how it goes from there. Its kind of weird how closely these books are alike because they are both documentaries on the bands.

finished the book

Yesterday i finished Red Hot Chili Peppers live in studio... Over all i was a little bit disappointed about the book. For the first few chapters it was interesting but after that it was like the same thing being repeated over and over again. the only thing i really got out of the book is that the band used a lot of drugs, then they all got clean and wrote music about their experiences with them. but there was one thing that i found interesting about the book. they told me what the different guitars and amps they used for each different song and it really helped me out when i was trying to learn one of their songs so that was interesting for me. but like i said, overall i wouldn't recomend this book to the average reader.

Going Back to the Originals

The chili peppers are a really different band as i have said many times before, it almost seems like they were all really baked when the author was interviewing them or questioning them, which wouldn't surprise me but it can go either way. Anyways, now the band is re grouping with its original members who had quit or had been fired from the band before. this urges the question "has the band started to change" if they are, why are they changing? or what has happened that they decided to change? these are things that are keeping me interested in reading the book to find out

A Familiar Pattern

Another chapter… Another band member dead or replaced. That seems to be the pattern in this book. Just when you start to find out about a member or the band starts to get used to his style he either overdoses or quits. For some reason this is only happening to the guitarists, all the other band members are the originals. Why do the Chili Peppers go through so many guitarists? I don’t know, but I am looking forward to finding out. I’m now half way through the book and the band still continues to amaze me in every way, the drugs, the alcohol, the sex. I now know why some of the songs are the way they are and I know the background behind the singer Anthony’s lyrics. It is very interesting and I am looking forward to what happens next.

Getting into the book

Now that I am starting to learn more about the chilli peppers in this book, I’m starting to realize how much of a unique sound they have that is so different from anyone else. I’m also starting to realize how crazy they were! Some of the things they did amaze me that they are still alive, but that is really the main thing in this book that is keeping me interested. So far I have only read a few chapters and already three band members have been replaced because they died of drug overdose, but like I said. It’s the crazy stuff that keeps me interested.

Finding the Right Book

After an hour of searching for the book Scar Tissue I found out that the book was not even in the library. So I started looking for a book like it and I was able to find Red Hot Chili Peppers …in studio which is a book almost identical to the one I wanted. Red Hot Chili Peppers … in studio is a biography on the Chilli Peppers and it really got me interested so I started looking for other biography’s on bands I liked, so I looked for one on Guns N’ Roses but the only one they had hadn’t been returned in years so I continued my search for other bands and I was able to find one on Metallica. Then right beside it I found a book on the Top 100 Guitarist in the World, this caught my eye because I am a guitarist myself. So I decided to get those three books. I have started reading Red Hot Chili Peppers …in studio and I haven’t gotten very far into the book yet but so far it’s given me a background on the band and the many different band names they had before they settled on the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I look Findingforward to reading the rest of the book.
